Welcome Horizon Honors Families! We are excited to see all of you for a great 2017-2018 school year! Please plan to be part of all we do! Please make sure to read this e-mail in its entirety so you will have all the important information you need for the upcoming school year.

STUDENT SCHEDULES
Student schedules are now available on PowerSchool. Returning families should login at https://horizonclc.powerschool.com/public/. New families may setup their PowerSchool account athttps://horizonclc.powerschool.com/public/create_multi_student_account.html?​ using the instruction sheets they received during the registration process. If you have any questions regarding setting up the account, please send an e-mail to powerschool@horizonclc.org. We will also have printed student schedules available at the Open House and Soaring Eagle Day.

OPEN HOUSE
Horizon Honors Secondary will be hosting an Open House Friday, July 28th.  Students and family members are welcome to drop in anytime between 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Stop in and walk your schedule, meet your teachers, checkout your textbooks. Get your student ID in the Media Center if you do not have a Scholastic Lab. All other IDs will be created during Scholastic Lab the first week of school. You may also pickup your AzMerit and AIMS score reports in the Main Office during Open House times.

NEW TO HORIZON HONORS?
Don’t miss a special orientation for all Secondary students and their family members on Friday, July 28th at 8:30 a.m. in the Multi-purpose Room (enter through the elementary doors.)  This event is tailored to meet your needs as a new family and to get you up to speed as we welcome you to Horizon Honors.  We will be covering many topics such as Using PowerSchool, Ordering Lunches, What’s an ILP?, Google Classroom and so much more. NOTE: These sessions do not include any of the information presented in the grade level parent orientations for 7th, 9th and 12th grade described below.  A new Horizon Honors family with a 9th grader, for example, should attend both the new family session and the 9th Grade Parent Orientation.

7:55 a.m. - transition to classrooms
8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Silver Days
Block 1: 8 to 9:30 a.m. 
Block 2: 9:35 to 11 a.m.
Lunch: 11 to 11:30 a.m.
Block 3:  11:35 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Block 4: 1:05 to 2:30 p.m.

Blue Days
Block 5: 8 to 9:30 a.m. 
Block 6: 9:35 to 11 a.m.
Lunch: 11 to 11:30 a.m.
Block 7:  11:35 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Block 8: 1:05 to 2:30 p.m.
 
Office - 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. when school is in session.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL – SOARIN’ EAGLE DAY
The first day of school is Monday, July 31st.  All students will attend school 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM with no late starts or early releases this day.  Each grade level will have a unique schedule for Soarin' Eagle Day with sessions specifically designed for that grade levels unique need.  All students will report to Blue Day Block 5 to receive the special schedule for Soarin' Eagle Day that includes 7th and 8th Grade Eagle Launch, Freshman Flying Start, Sophomore Scene, Junior Navigation, and Senior Seminar. Students on morning release will report to the Media Center.

STUDENT FEES
Students Fees are paid online via PowerSchool. Look for additional information via email soon.
 
LUNCHES
You will receive a separate email on how and when to order lunches soon! Check out our vendors for the 2017-18 school year!

IMPORTANT PARENT MEETINGS – THE TRANSITION YEARS
Parents of seniors, freshman, and 7th graders, please join us for an orientation designed to help you and your child successfully navigate this next developmental milestone.  Topics covered will be specific to the social, emotional, and academic needs you and your child will experience this school year.  All sessions will be held in the Multipurpose Room – please enter through the Elementary doors.  NOTE: These sessions will not repeat anything presented to New Families.  A new Horizon Honors family with a 9th grader, for example, should attend both the new family session and the 9th grade Parent Orientation.

Class of 2018 - Welcome to Senior Year Parent Orientation Wednesday, August 2nd @ 6 p.m. 

 

HIGH SCHOOL FALL SPORTS
Athletic paperwork for the fall is due Wednesday, August 2nd.  Tryouts begin the week of August 7th. The office opens on Wednesday, July 19th if you need to pick up required athletic paperwork.  Office hours are 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL FALL SPORTS
Athletic paperwork for the fall is due August 9th.  Tryouts begin week of August 14th. The office opens on Wednesday, July 19th if you need to pick up required athletic paperwork.  Office hours are 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

COFFEE CONNECTION
You won't want to miss the first Coffee Connection of the school year! On Friday, August 4th at 8:15 a.m. both new and returning parents are invited to join us in the Media Center to meet other parents from your child's classes and much more! Coffee and goodies will be provided.
